Tenure-Track Faculty Position (Assistant or Associate Professor) in Entrepreneurship

The Gies College of Business at Illinois is a world leader in research, teaching, and public engagement. Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a 100% full-time assistant or associate professor within the Department of Business Administration. The position is in the Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and International Business (SEIB) area within the Department of Business Administration. The SEIB faculty include Fellows of the Academy of Management and the Strategic Management Society, leaders of the TIM and STR divisions of the Academy of Management, and editors of major journals like Organization Science and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal. We have a vibrant research culture that includes the Illinois Strategic Organizations Initiative (ISOI), the Initiative for Qualitative Research in Innovation and Entrepreneurship (INQUIRE), and an excellent doctoral program.

We seek candidates with a demonstrated commitment to research excellence in the domain of entrepreneurship . An ability and openness to teach courses at graduate and undergraduate levels with different delivery formats is desirable. Experience with online teaching is valued but not required. Applicants must have (or be finishing) a Ph.D. in business or a related disciplinary field.

The Department of Business Administration is a large and diverse unit that includes graduate and undergraduate programs across eight academic areas (i.e., Organizational Behavior, Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship, International Business, Marketing, Operations Management, Information Systems, Business Analytics, and Supply Chain). SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain an active and productive program of research. 
  • Teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
  • Perform service for the department.
  • Provide leadership in the department and the university.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates must possess a Ph.D. degree; candidates for assistant professor should expect to have completed their doctoral degree by June 1, 2025.
  • Strong research portfolio.
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness, preferred experience teaching entrepreneurship.
  • Leadership potential commensurate with position sought.

SALARY AND APPOINTMENT INFORMATION:

This is a 9-month, 100% full time academic tenure-track position with the opportunity for summer appointment. The expected start date is negotiable.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $190,000-$200,000 at the Assistant Professor level or $200,000-$215,000 at the Associate Professor level. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate, including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
