ABOUT THE ROLE

WNDR is seeking a full-time, diligent and customer oriented Security Guard to join our team in our Boston, MA museum. Reporting to the General Manager, this role will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our visitors, staff and exhibits. In addition to traditional security responsibilities, you will embody our principles of Unreasonable Hospitality to provide an exceptional experience to all guests. 

An ideal candidate possesses strong analytical and problem solving skills, is well-organized, a strong communicator, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure the safety and security of visitors, staff, and exhibits through vigilant monitoring and patrolling of museum premises. 
  • Implement museum security protocols and procedures to prevent theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access. 
  • Greet guests with warmth and professionalism, embodying the principles of Unreasonable Hospitality to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. 
  • Assist visitors with inquiries, directions, and other requests, always demonstrating excellent customer service skills. 
  • Monitor surveillance systems and alarms, promptly responding to any security breaches or incidents. 
  • Conduct routine inspections of retail, lounge and exhibition spaces to ensure artifacts and installations are protected from damage or tampering. 
  • Collaborate with museum staff and management to address security concerns and implement improvements as needed. 
  • Provide support during special events, exhibitions, and performances, ensuring a smooth and secure experience for all attendees. 
  • Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies, following established protocols to maintain order and ensure the safety of all individuals onsite. 
  • Complete accurate and thorough incident reports, documenting any security incidents or breaches for review by museum management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in security, preferably in a museum, retail, or hospitality setting. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor. 
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, with a proactive approach to problem-solving. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and observational skills, with the ability to detect and respond to security threats effectively. 
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with surveillance systems and security software.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. 
  • Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods. 
  • Knowledge of art and technology is a plus, but not required.
