Job Description

Overview: seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Engineer to join our client's team. This role involves the development, implementation, and enforcement of comprehensive safety programs to ensure a secure working environment. The ideal candidate will be adept in interpreting safety regulations and fostering a culture of safety-first among employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures tailored to regulatory compliance.
  • Interpret and apply federal, state, and local safety regulations to ensure full compliance.
  • Provide expert advice and audits to line management for effective implementation of EHS initiatives.
  • Conduct training sessions including employee orientation and emergency response protocols, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Advise on equipment design and ergonomics to enhance workplace safety.
  • Manage and evaluate the Safety Management System, tracking progress and outcomes.
  • Maintain documentation related to permits, safety equipment, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with safety policies when working on-site.
  • Prepare and present reports on the status of health and safety programs to management.
  • Lead investigations into accidents and injuries, compiling reports for regulatory bodies.
  • Recommend and implement corrective and preventive measures.
  • Lead emergency response initiatives, aligning with company policies and procedures.
  • Promote a culture of safety and develop internal safety advocates.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety policies and OSHA standards.
  • Ability to effectively train and mentor staff.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Certified Safety Professional status is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods and work on a computer.
  • Capable of lifting up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to traverse the entire facility for safety inspections.
