Completes non-teaching projects or complex work in support of a Campus or University administrative or academic department. This work is generally of a temporary nature and requires specialized experience or expertise.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

The Division of Student Affairs assists students with social, personal, and emotional development with the goal of encouraging intellectual and ethical growth through programs, initiatives, clubs, leadership activities, and various community events. The Division has five subgroups: 1) Student Transitions and Retention 2) Student Health, Wellness, and Inclusion 3) Leadership and Engagement 4) Career Exploration and Professional Development 5) Varsity Athletics, Intramurals, and the APEX, where the 13 departments within the division reside.

Project Overview: The LGBTQIA+ Oral History Project is committed to documenting and preserving the experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals in the Bronx. Led by History Professor Benjamin Holtzman and English Lecturer Matthew Frye-Castillo for FY25, this project aims to create a comprehensive archive through interviews and visual storytelling.

Position Summary: Lehman College is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Oral History Coordinator to support the LGBTQIA+ Oral History Project for Spring 2025. The coordinator will be responsible for building a database of future interviews, answering queries related to the project, and planning future exhibition opportunities for the first oral history mini-documentary. The coordinator will also complete additional tasks as assigned by the Project Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a database of interview subjects for future oral histories
  • Respond to queries and provide information about the project to interested parties
  • Collaborate in planning exhibition opportunities for the mini-documentary
  • Manage promotional efforts, software usage, and miscellaneous supplies for the project
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Project Director

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience with oral history or archival projects is preferred
  • Demonstrable success with A/V technology, basic graphic design, and social media promotion through YouTube, TikTok, and/or Facebook
  • Interest in LGBTQIA+ history and culture
  • Proactiveness in setting and managing multiple deadlines

COMPENSATION

  • Compensation: $4,500; $47.42 per hour
  • Additional budget for supplies, promotions, and software: $500

BENEFITS
