Job Description

Position: Assistant General Manager
Location: Jersey City, NJ

Building and Land Technology (BLT), is a vertically integrated real estate developer, who owns and operates luxury residential properties with a commitment to excellence and resident satisfaction. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager in optimizing the operations and performance of our Jersey City property.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant General Manager:

  • Assist the General Manager in coordinating team efforts to achieve financial and operational goals.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Oversee daily property operations to ensure a professional, welcoming atmosphere for residents and clients.
  • Conduct regular property inspections, address issues, and report service needs to the maintenance team.
  • Serve as a liaison between the General Manager, staff, and residents to foster effective communication and resolve concerns proactively.
  • Support resident satisfaction and retention efforts by addressing feedback and ensuring high service standards.
  • Assist with leasing activities, including preparing and administering lease agreements for new and renewing residents.
  • Analyze market trends and contribute ideas to enhance marketing efforts and the resident experience.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, including fair housing and leasing regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records related to rents, deposits, application fees, and resident communications.
  • Manage delinquent accounts, issue appropriate notices, and collaborate with ownership to address evictions when necessary.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager.

Requirements of the Assistant General Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in property management.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Property Management Software; experience with AppFolio software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of building operations and maintenance.
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as standing and walking during property inspections.
  • Proven leadership and time management skills, with a focus on team collaboration and problem-solving.

Compensation & Benefits for the Assistant General Manager:

  • Salary: Competitive base range of $55,000–$65,000, with potential for bonuses.
