Park Senior Villas is hiring a full time Activities Director at our La Canada location!!

Position Summary: Responsible for planning and implementing life enriching programs and events which provide socialization opportunities, fitness and wellness activities, educational and recreational programs, as well as spiritual life support based on the needs and preferences of the residents in the community. This position reports to the General Manager and engages with and directs team members while providing daily activities for residents. This position also works closely with the Marketing Team.

Essential Functions:

  • Plans, develops, and implements resident lifestyle programming within the community as well as through outside trips and events.
  • Trains onsite caregivers on how to implement activity programs and provide activities in respective villas to ensure residents benefit from activities and socialization.
  • Provide a 7 day week activity program that is appropriate for all levels of care.
  • Works to encourage residents who have no or low participation.
  • Interviews residents to determine their past and present interests and talents, as well as their satisfaction with the community’s programs and activities.
  • Observes residents’ functions and behaviors and reports significant changes or concerns to appropriate staff.
  • Performs work tasks in a manner that preserves each resident’s dignity, privacy and confidentiality.
  • Utilizes outside community resources and independent contractors to enrich the variety of programs made available to residents.
  • Manages monthly budget
  • Documents and maintains all records as required to effectively manage the department.
  • Secures and maintains all department supplies and equipment.
  • Develops and distributes the resident newsletter/calendar and other lifestyle programming communications on a regular and monthly basis conforming to company's standards.
  • Maintains appropriate schedules to ensure proper coverage
  • Works cooperatively with all other departments in planning shared events.
  • Builds a robust volunteer database to ensure a variety of monthly programming.
  • Maintains an inviting, functional and organized program area, including appropriate and seasonal decoration of display areas.
  • Manages recreation program effectively.
  • Efficiently manages time daily so that department staff, including self, is spending equal amounts of time with all cognitive levels of residents.
  • Organizes and carries out or delegates activity training, Dementia Educations Seminars (to families and public), and Monthly Support Groups as needed.
  • Must be able to work with assisted living, memory care, bed-bound, and behavioral residents.

Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements:

  • Experience as an Activities Director or Assistant Activities Director in a memory care and assisted living care setting; or has completed an accredited activities program.

Experience:

  • Director/Supervisor: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Activities/Recreation: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Dementia/Alzheimer's: 2 years (Preferred)

Education:

  • High School or GED
